Q: What are the symptoms of diabetes 10 POINTS!!!?
What are the symptoms of diabetes, and can a 14 year old get diabetes. 10 points
A: Yes! i was 14 when i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
the most common symptoms that i encountered was
-EXTREME weight loss. i was 67 lbs!
-frequent urination; i was peeing 20 times a day and had to get up in the middle of the night just to relieve myself.
-i was ALWAYS thirsty for water. i even had to take a cup with me in the car.
-I was extremely hungry ALL the time and had a LARGE appetite.
-i was also really really tired, to the point where i couldn’t get out of bed; fatigue.
once i found out i had it, and began taking insulin shots, i gained 6 lbs in 2 days and 20 lbs in 2 weeks!
i would recommend anyone who has any of these symptoms to go see your doctor asap….or you’ll slowly whither away. its a very serious thing if its not treated. hope this helped :]
Q: Question about diabetes symptoms?
what are the first symptoms of diabetes. Is tingling feet and hands the first symptom of diabetes?
A: Type 1 diabetes typically presents with increased appetite, weight loss despite increased intake, increased thirst, increased urination, and feeling quite ill. Type 2 diabetes typically presents with vague or no symptoms at all. Neuropathy – the tingling you reference – may be the 1st sign of diabetes but this is a very uncommon presentation. If I may be of further assistance please let me know. I wish you the very best of health and in all things may God bless.
Q: What are the symptoms of canine diabetes?
Also what are the symptoms of a canine bladder infection?
A: In a nutshell without labwork to back it up–
DIABETES:
-Drinking A LOT more water, possibly eating more
-Urinating A LOT more, both frequency and amount
-Maybe weight gain OR loss
BLADDER INFECTION:
-Normal to slightly increased drinking and eating
-Frequent urinating of small amounts, or frequent squatting/trying to pee without actually urinating
-Urinating/squatting in unusual places, especially if normally well housebroken
-Blood in the urine (possibly)
-Usually no change in weight
However, bloodwork and urinalysis are necessary to confirm the diagnosis. If diabetic, the blood glucose will be elevated and there may be glucose in the urine. In a bladder infection, there is usually bacteria in the urine that can be seen under a microscope. However, there may also be crystals in the urine which are also irritating and can cause some of the symptoms of the urinary infection. In fact, some kinds of crystals are more likely to form when there IS an infection– usually struvite (STROO-vite). This is why it’s important to see your vet if you think your pet has a bladder problem. If left untreated, struvite crystals from a chronic infection can develop into stones and require surgery to remove them. If your pet has diabetes, your vet can start insulin or other medication to lower the blood sugar. Sugar in the urine is also irritating and can cause your pet to urinate more often.
Q: What are some symptoms of diabetes? What symptoms made you call the doctor before you were diagnosed?
A: Feet hurt. Pins and Nettles.
Diabetes Type 1: Symtoms of type 2
In type 1, the pancreas stop producing insulin, due to autuimmune response or possibly viral attack on pancreas. In absence of insulin, body cells does not get glucose for producing ATP (Adenosin Triphosphate) units which results into primary symptom in the form of nausea and vomiting. In latter stage which leads to ketoacidosis in which body starts breaking down muscle tissue and fat for energy, there is consequently fast weight loss. Dehydration is also usually observed due to electrolyte disturbance. In advance stages even coma and death, are being witnessed.
Diabetes Type 2:
* Increased fatigue : Due to inefficiency of cell to metabolise glucose, reserve fat of body is metabolised to gain energy. When fat is broken down in the body, it uses more energy as compared to glucose, hence body goes in negative calorie effect, which results in fatigue.
* Polydipsia : As the concentration of glucose increases in the blood, brain receives signal for diluting it and in its counteraction we feel thirsty.
* Polyuria: Increase in urine production is the result seen when excess of glucose is present in body. Body tries to get rid of the extra sugar in the blood by excreting it through the urine. This can also lead to dehydration because excreting the sugar which carries a large amount of water out of the body along with it.
* Polyphegia : The hormone insulin is also responsible for stimulating hunger. In order to cope up with high sugar levels in blood, body produces insulin which leads to increased hunger.
* Weight flactuation : Factors like loss of water (polyuria), glucosuria , metabolism of body fat and protein may lead to loss of weight. Few cases may show weight gain due to increased appetite.
* Blurry vision : Hyperosmolar hyperglycemia nonketotic syndrome is the condition when body fluid is pulled out of tissues including lenses of eye, which affects the ability of lenses to focus resulting in blurry vision.
* Irritability : It is one of the sign of high blood sugar because of the inefficient supply of glucose to brain and other body organs, which makes us feel tired and uneasy.
* Infections : Certain signals from the body is given whenever there is fluctuation of blood sugar (due to suppression of immune system) by frequent infections of fungal or bacterial like skin infection or UTI (urinary tract infection).
* Poor wound healing : High blood sugar resists the flourishing of WBC, (white blood cell) which are responsible for body immune system. When these cells do not function accordingly, wound healing is not at good pace. Secondly, long standing diabetes leads to thickening of blood vessels which may affect proper circulation of blood in different body parts.
And once you find out , DEPRESSION Is a complication of diabetes..
Wow , good question>
Q: What are some symptoms of childhood diabetes?
Also can a child get a fever when the symptoms begin to show?
Thanks Mozz. I’m just a bit worried.
A: Fever, not usually. In fact, some of the same symptoms for diabetes are symptoms that accompany a fever (thirst, lethargy, sweatiness, labored breathing and irritability). Part of what makes its diagnosis tricky, especially in a toddler, since they’re always thirsty and peeing anyway (two more symptoms).
I can’t explain it. She wasn’t just thirsty, it was over the top. I couldn’t get enough into her to drink. Same with peeing. It wasn’t just frequent. She was up or wetting the bed twice a night. She wouldn’t eat at all. She looked sick. She lost weight. She was 3 so she wasn’t able to communicate very well what was wrong or how she felt.
If undiagnosed type 1 goes on long enough it evolves into ketoacidosis. So add to the symptoms above projectile vomiting, unexplainable sleepiness, labored breathing while at rest and funky smelling breath and pores. Ketoacidosis is dangerous and if your child has these symptoms get in touch with your pedi right away.
If your child has had a bug or a fever, he will have some of the same symptoms. But if you’re on the fence, or can’t shake your gut, you could test his ketones. They’re available non-prescription and should be negative. If he has a bug he may have small or even moderate ketones. If he’s undiagnosed Type 1 diabetic they’ll be thru the roof. I don’t know what they cost over the counter (Bear gets them prescription), but I’ll tell you something, they’re not a terrible thing to have around even if he’s free and clear of diabetes. They’re a great indicator of illnesses and dehydration.

Some people may tell you to check his sugar with a friend’s meter but I strongly advise against that. There’s a lot of variables to weigh in that you won’t know how to do. It matters what time of day it is, when he last ate, *what* he last ate, if he is feeling ill, etc. A target blood sugar is useless if you don’t know how to factor in these things.
Q: do i have symptoms of diabetes?
I’m 16. Today I drank a big glass of water and then I would pee about every 5 minutes and it would be a lot of urine. I haven’t been overly thirsty, but for the past couple of days, I feel tired even though I get about 9-10 hours of sleep. Also, if I stand up too fast, I feel dizzy and lightheaded. And I sometimes feel weak.
I am not in the best of shape and a little overweight. I have been exercising more lately, though.
Am I showing symptoms of diabetes?
A: Well I suppose anything is possible, and its better to be safe than sorry, but you could also be experiencing any number of other things. That is why if you are truly concerned, you should see your dr.
Other possibilities:
You could be anemic. This means you are iron deficient, which could make you feel dizzy and weak.
You could be consuming more diuretics than you think. Coffee? Tea? Soda? Chocolate? Caffeine? New pills?
You could also be dehydrated. It’s not just the amount of urine, but the color as well. You want to aim for a clean to slightly yellow color. Yellow to dark yellow means you are not consuming enough water.
You could be feeling weak from other changes in your body, such as changes in hormone levels, stress, etc. You are 16, and your body is changing – to be hallmarky about it.
Q: Diabetes Symptoms?
do u have diabetes? what are the symptoms and risks? if u can please be specific, its important. thanks
A: Because diabetes can cause serious complications, it’s important to be on the lookout for signs that you may have it. The symptoms of type 1 diabetes are often subtle, but they can become severe. They include:
Increased thirst.
Increased hunger (especially after eating).
Dry mouth.
Frequent urination.
Unexplained weight loss (even though you are eating and feel hungry).
Fatigue (weak, tired feeling).
Blurred vision.
Numbness or tingling of the hands or feet.
Loss of consciousness (rare).
Q: Diabetes Symptoms?
A doctor told me he wants me to be checked for diabetes. If anyone out there has diabetes can you tell me what some of your symptoms were. When you read an article on it, it sounds like anything is a symptom. Do you just go to your general doctor to be tested? Is it a blood test?
A: Some of the more common symptoms are weight loss, frequent urination, visual disturbances. There are indeed quite a few symptoms, but most people never realize they have diabetes until they’re tested.
The test involves a simple blood test. Your physician is the one who has to order the blood test. Your physician will tell you whether you have diabetes, and you certainly need to pay attention, because it is YOU, not the doctor, who will have to manage your diabetes. The doctor will tell you how to get started on the learning process. He or she will prescribe whatever medication might be necessary, and probably will also refer you to a registered dietician to learn how to fight the disease through controlling what you eat. And you’ll be referred to a certified diabetes educator, who’s usually a Regestered Nurse, like me, who has had additional training and experience teaching newly diagnosed diabetics about their disease and about all the options there are to help ya maintain a reasonable blood glucose level and fight off complications of the disease – all of which can become deadly serious, so you’ll have to get serious, too.
Do NOT accept any advice from anyone who tells you there are “natural” or “alternative” or “herbal” remedies that control blood sugar or cure or reverse diabetes. It cannot be cured or reversed, only controlled.
It’s a bit of a pain in the backside to learn you have to put up with this friggin’ disease. I have a lot more things I’d rather do than deal with diabetes – but it ain’t going away. And I’d rather spend money on things that work and control the disease, instead of spending it on a mortician!
Q: diabetes symptoms?
Yesterday i had so many symptoms of diabetes.
i went to the bathroom atleast 6 times.
i felt thirsty the whole day
-dizziness
i have bad vision but yesterday my vision seemed worse
when i went to bed my right foot became numb and tingly
i felt hungry the whole day
light headed
but today i feel fine. Could i have diabetes? why would i feel fine today but yesterday i had all those symptoms.?
A: You need to go get checked for diabetes. Having symptoms one day and not the next is common in some people….it can be the reason many do not get checked for the disease right away. Be safe, and get checked soon.

Hi Lindsey… these are the common symptoms if you have i would say 3 or more of them then you are probably type 2 diabetic.Diabetes occurs when the pancreas either doesnt make insulin ( Type 1 diabetes) or your body doesnt react in the right way to it (type 2 ) Insulin is needed to control the sugar/glucose from the foods that you eat.Type 2 can develop if you are overweight or obese as well.
Q: diabetes symptoms?
symptoms of diabetes
A: My husband and I are both diabetics. Symptoms can vary from one diabetic to another. Here are some of the symptoms that my husband and I have experienced.

2. Feeling very tired and sleepy, especially after a meal.
3. I actually have a headache when my blood sugar is elevated.
4. Weight loss or gain. I lost, my husband gained weight.
5.Thirsty. When my husband’s blood sugar was elevated, he craved a lot of water. I never have.
6. Blurred vision, we both have this symptom. This is a sign that ones blood sugars are high.
7. Excessive sweating.
8.Having to urinate a lot.
9. Insomnia
10. Excessive craves for sweets and carbs.

Q: Diabetes? Symptoms..?
I’ve had symptoms such as missed period, excessive drinking, itchy rashes on my wrists, Urinary tract infections (i think, needing to urinate every few minutes and its painful, not diagnosed however), thrush, blurred vision and shakey hands. I’m 99% sure im NOT pregnant and have missed my period for 2 months (ive done pregnancy tests which have been negative 2 months after my missed period).
While looking for an answer i came across a page with symptoms of diabetes. I am a bit overweight i suppose, but i cant get to the doctor for a little while.
http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/d/diabetes/symptoms.htm
Is that a wild guess?
A: if you can’t go to the doctor, go to walmart.
They have a blood glucose meter there and strips, and the whole bit will only cost you around $35 bucks. Check your sugars, follow the information in the book (or email me and i’ll walk you thru it).
I am diabetic, but don’t have most of those symptoms, and also, you can be diabetic without being overweight. You actually sound like you could be hypoglycemic, meaning you have low blood sugar. Either way, stay away from sweets and processed sugar. Some women also get ‘pregnancy diabetes’, which only happens when you’re pregnant, then usually goes away after you have the baby.
Don’t stress out over this stuff. Wait it out, and get to your doctor as soon as you can. Some pharmacies will test your sugars for you too, maybe check around?
Also, it is possible for pregnancy tests to show a false negative for up to 6 months into the pregnancy…
My friend had 4 months of negative tests, and her son is turning 6 this spring.
Good luck hope it all works out for you!!
Edit: one more thing, most of your symptoms (including missed periods) are indicative of dehydration. :/ perhaps try drinking more fluids.
Q: Diabetes symptoms?
hey,im 13,i dont really think i have diabetes.what are the first symptoms?the only regular suger i take in is my 1 cup of coffee in the morning(2 tablespoons),and the rest is just food i eat.i normally have a little popcorn at night with some salt because its not high in fat.i have a salad at least once a week and have some candy(5-10pieces a week from halloween).im not worried at all.i drink so much soda, but itss coke zero, which has no sugar,im aware of aspartmyne poisoning too.just wondering how much it takes to get diabetes and wat rthe first symptoms
A: Health care providers do not yet know what causes diabetes. The following factors may increase your chance of getting diabetes:
Family history of diabetes
African-American, Hispanic, Native American or Asian-American race or ethnic background
Being overweight
Age (Chances increase with age)
Taking certain medicines
Being pregnant*
*Pregnancy puts extra stress on a woman’s body that causes some women to develop diabetes. Blood sugar levels often return to normal after childbirth. Yet, women who get diabetes during pregnancy have an increased chance of developing diabetes later in life.

Q: diabetes symptoms?
for the past few months i keep feeling headaches and giddy and nausea almost everyday sometimes through out the day even eating dont helps my b/p 120/80 also feel stiff around my neck and shoulder i sometimes feel pain in my hands legs and joint are all this diabetes symptoms?
A: The usual symptoms are: sluggishness, especially in the afternoon. Change of eyesight…blurriness. Frequent urination.
Sleepiness…lack of strength. Dry mouth. Can cause what is known as diabetic peripheral neuropathy which affects the feet and hands. Hurts like hell….burning and tingling. Genuine pain!
A simple blood test called A1c for glucose can reveal if you have
a high glucose amount in your blood. No fasting required for this one. A count of anything up to 7 is acceptable. 7 is borderline and anything over 7 is diabetes. This is a better test than the glucose fasting test. I would advise you to see a doctor and have this look into. Diabetes is not a simple disease and it is sometime difficult to control if not caught early enough. Be smart. See a doctor.
Q: Diabetes Symptoms?
Hi, the semen of a Diabetic patient attracts ants? I found some ants trying swallow my semen. I dont have any other symptom of diabetes in my body. But in some book, i read that in anciant days the logic Doctors used ” if urine of a person attracts ants, he is a diabet”.
A: The symptoms of diabetes are: elevated blood sugar levels, loss of glucose, a decrease in insulin leads to weight loss but an increase in appetite. These are the main symptoms of diabetes. However, I don’t know about the ant thing.
