Q: Blood sugar levels normal?
When I tested this morning after fasting, my blood sugar level was 65. When I tested after eating breakfast (two slices of toast with a banana and peanut-butter) it was 160) within 3 hours of eating I got all shaky, so I tested again and it was 50. After eating a candy bar it shot up to 205. Are these normal blood sugar levels? Please help, I’m so confused.
When it came up at 205 I wasn;t shaky but all jerky and my heart was pounding, that normal?
I’m not a diagnosed diabetic. I started having suspicious a while ago, and since it is highly genetic in my family, someone suggested I go out and buy a meter before I go to the doctor, so I did and used it for the first time today.

A: It doesn’t sound like diabetes, in fact it sounds more like hypoglycemia – the opposite. You are too low. It is normal for someone to go up dramatically after a high carb food, but diabetics don’t come down all by themselves.

You definitely need to go to a doctor. Until you can see one (as soon as possible, make sure you make it clear to the nurse exactly what your charted numbers were, so she knows you aren’t just guessing), keep monitoring. If you go low again (under 70), my advice would be to eat something well-rounded (without too much simple sugars like a candy) and test again 15 minutes later to make sure there was enough in it. Keep eating well, you don’t need to worry about the ‘highs’ from the sounds of it because you come back down, but probably won’t come ‘down’ as fast if you add some fat and protein (more peanut butter, less toast) to your foods.

No, they are not normal blood sugars and you should see your doc asap.

Q: Are there any blood sugar secrets for keeping blood sugar levels normal?

A: Without a shadow of doubt the the Advanced Blood Sugar Solution available from the link below is the market leader here. If it’s blood sugar secrets you are after, this is the best kept secret of them all. This is all about high blood pressure and how to get it down.

Q: Are these blood sugar levels normal?
my morning glucose levels are always from hi 60’s to low 70’s
After I eat my blood sugar levels usually jump to around 200-220.
2-3 hours later my blood sugar levels is down to 80-110.

is this normal? I am trying to figure out what is wrong with me as I am always hungry

A: Have you been diagnosed as having diabetes? It sounds like you have a “lazy pancreas.” BGL’s of 60-70 are a bit
low. 200-220 are high. 80-110 are normal. If you’re always hungry you probably have type 2 diabetes.

Q: Blood Sugar Levels Normal?
I haven’t had much of an appetite lately and had gone almost 24hrs without eating when I started feeling really sick. I checked my blood sugar levels and it was 48. I proceeded to eat and 3hrs later it checked as 110. I still feel dizzy and sickish even though I ate. Is this normal? Are my levels normal given the circumstances?

A: In the past I’ve worked with Diabetes Society of the Santa Clara Valley as their Outreach Chairman for about 3 years. I’ve had Type 1 Diabetes since 1974.

With a blood sugar of 48 you were having an insulin reaction (low blood sugar). When you have an insulin reaction your body produces adrenalin, which makes you feel shaky. After an episode like that it takes your body a little while to get back to normal. You did the right thing buy eating something. Know too that you should never go without eating. This is also something you should mention to your doctor. If you aren’t seeing a diabetes specialist you should be.

Q: Is it normal for blood sugar levels to fall into the upper 60’s 1 hour after a high carb meal?
I am 20 years old and weigh about 110. About an hour after eating high carb meals my sugar seems to drop low is this normal?

A: Normal people do fall back really rapidly to their normal levels.

60 is a bit low, but not in the danger zone.

so you are likely a bit Hypoglycemic and need to watch that you don’t eat the high carb meals very often.

People who are Hypo crash back down and sometimes below their normal levels after eating heavy carb foods.

Q: Are these normal blood sugar levels?
I measured my blood sugar levels and got
5.9 mmol/l after fasting for 6 hours
7.9 mmol/l about 30 minutes after a cup of tea an biscuits then 7.0 2 hours after this..
Im going to do a 10 hour fast an try again in the morning.. but do u think these levels are alright?

A: No need to repeat the tests — you are fine.

Q: WHat is normal blood sugar levels after eating? Mine was like 80?
I am not a diabetic but it does run in my family! But i decided to check my blood sugar tonight while my aunt was checking hers! when i did it….it said 80 and that was like an hour after i ate! IS this normal! I thought that it would be really high because of what all i ate!

A: That’s normal. My brother, dad, and husband all have diabetes and normal range is 70-120. If you don’t have sugar you should be down to normal in an hour or two (depending on what you ate). It takes 2 hours for people with sugar to get to normal. If it is not normal or is very high they have to take insulin. My brother takes 7 shots a day. You do not have sugar but if it runs in your family it is possible you may get it later.

Q: Is it normal for Blood Sugar Levels to be high after Physical Activity?
I’m hypoglycemic and instead of my sugar levels going low after Physical Activity they are higher, around 8 or 9mmol/L (144 – 162mg/dL)

A: The liver dumps glucose to prevent a low. This is normal in everyone, but non-diabetics should have enough pancreatic function to cover the increase in glucose with insulin surges. Slightly elevated over normal would be acceptable, but you’re a lot higher than normal. I’m concerned that your levels are too high for a non-diabetic. Also, hypoglycemia can sometimes be a pre-cursor to diabetes. I’m not saying you’re diabetic, but perhaps you should test yourself after eating something very high in sugar to see how high you’re spiking after meals. The hypoglycemia you’re experiencing could be reactive hypoglycemia due to high after-meal spikes. Good luck to you.

Q: What are normal (good) blood sugar levels for different times of the day?
What should optimal levels be :
When you wake?
After eating?
Before you go to bed?
etc…

A: The normal amount of sugar in the blood ranges from about 70 mg/dL to about 120 mg/dL in people who don’t have diabetes. Blood sugar goes up after eating, but returns to the normal range in 1 or 2 hours. A good blood sugar range for most poeple with diabetes is from about 70 mg/dL to 150 mg/dL. This is before a meal – like before breakfast or 4 to 5 hours after you last meal. Your blood sugar should be less than 200 mg/dL about 2 hours after your last meal… in early mornings the sugar levels can be accurately measure i.e: when your stomach is empty..

Q: What are normal blood sugar levels for men?
Non diabetic men over 50 years old

A: An adult, regardless of sex, shouldn’t have a blood sugar over 100 sober. Meaning before eating in the morning after waking up have him test his blood sugar. After eating it shouldn’t go above 120 and should drop back to 100 in a short amount of time (like an hour)

Q: Are my blood sugar levels normal?
Hemoglobin 1AC – 5.1

Fasting Glucose, Serm level – 100

Mean Plasma Glucose – 104

Why is the mean plasma glucose higher? What is it even?

A: Mean plasma glucose always runs a bit higher (about 10%, usually) than whole blood glucose. I believe it’s just a more accurate way of determining your blood glucose levels. Consumer meters generally only measure whole blood glucose. It’s cheaper to do and tells us all we need to know with regard to how we treat our condition.

Your numbers look great. Congratulations, you’re not diabetic.

Q: what is hypoglycemia and what are normal blood sugar levels in human body?

A: For a person that does NOT have diabetes the normal blood sugar readings are
Fasting 70 to 100
2 hours after a meal 70 to 140

For a person the HAS diabetes the blood sugar levels should be

Fasting 110 to 180
2 hours after a meal 140 to 235

Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar. Most diabetic have had episodes when their blood sugar has dropped very low (70 or lower in a person that HAS diabetes) . Low blood sugar can be very dangerous. It can cause confusion, seizures, coma and death.

Hypoglycemia CAN be a disease in itself. Many people that do not have diabetes are plagued with hypoglycemia most of their lives. They must learn to eat 6 small meals every day, and be sure to have snacks with them at all times. Being more active than usual can cause this persons blood sugar level to drop very low, very quickly. A person with hypoglycemia never knows for sure when their blood sugar will fall, this is why it is very necessary to stay away from sugary foods. Sugar raises the blood sugar level and then can cause it to fall quickly. Sugar does not sustain a normal blood sugar level for very long. Foods with carbs, preferably good carbs are what you should be eating. If you feel you are getting low blood sugar, eat something with some carbs in it, like a granola bar or peanut butter and crackers. Candy or glucose tablets should only be used if the blood sugar is falling very quickly and you are ready to pass out. After you use the sugar, then eat some carbs. Carbohydrates will raise the blood sugar levels and sustain them much longer.
In many people, hypoglycemia can be a prelude to diabetes. I was hypoglycemic most of my life, then developed diabetes.

Q: What sugar blood levels are normal for a person with diabetes?

A: Since your life is shortened when you have diabetes, you should not aim for being a normal diabetic, you should aim to cure your disease, in other words, be normal in blood sugar. Type 2 can be cured. My dad did it with the Pritikin diet. It is drastic, but the disease’s consequences are severe. Allowing it to continue is keeping drug companies and your doctor in pools of money. Get angry and get cured. If you’re going to drop oranges because they’re carbs, make sure you consume a variety of other fruits including tomatoes. Until your blood sugar drops to normal levels, cut out those starches that are made without fiber like white rice, potatoes, white bread and batter-fried foods. Who wants to be addicted to drugs for 40 years, and then die (or get crippled) early anyway?

Q: does someone know whats the normal average for blood sugar levels after eating for a pregnant type 2 diabetic?
i know whats the normal levels for a NON-PREGNANT but not for a pregnant woman, i’m pregnant right now. my doctor told me that i have to be between 80-95 fasting and 140 after eating. its very strick i know its for my own good but what do you think about this?

A: Hi I’m also pregnant with type 2 diabetes I’m going on 23 weeks. My doctor says my fasting level should be from 70-105 and 1 hour after eating anything below 145 to 70 is okay. I guess each doctor is different. Right now I’m kinda freaking out cause my sugar was high after lunch like real high 184- I think I messed up this morning by eating a whole donut with sprinkles and then not eating again till 5 hrs later it’s been 3 hrs and it’s only come down to 174, and my suagr levels have been great up intill now. So kinda worried. Well enough rambling I was here to answer your question not tell you my days problem….. Sorry!!!!

Q: How quickly should Metformin bring my blood sugar levels to within normal range?
I am eating very healthy and exercising 45 minutes a day vigorously. I was just prescribed Metformin – was told to take half dose to see if my blood sugars stabilize. They have gone from 277 to 172 to 164 in three days but this is still too high. Doctor said if it wasn’t below 130 to increase dosage but I don’t know how long I should wait.

A: You are doing great and it is coming down. It may come on down even more tomorrow, don’t increase it until it comes up some. As long as it is going down it may reach 130 blood sugar level yet. I am not as familiar with Metformin as I am with other insulin but it is best not to change the dosage too frequently. My daughter was diagnosed with diabetes at age 11 and at age 39 she had a pancreas and kidney transplant operation. She now has 3 kidneys and 2 pancreas. They leave the old ones in and she is no longer a diabetic. She is 44 and like a new woman.
